Dear Diary, ...

I'm not really a "writer", more of a picture person. So far I've enjoyed posting pictures much more than actually writing. Blogs seem to me to be an online diary. I never stuck with my diary. In my pre-teen days, I bought multiple ones in the hopes of becoming a converted diary writer. Most entries started out saying I was going to write every day from now on.
But, I never did. And eventually got rid of the book until I bought a new one to try again.
I think I never got that into it because I've never been much of a writer. It doesn't come naturally to me, and diaries seem very narcissistic or like a big book of notes to myself that I will never need to read again. Full of overly dramatic stories about my birds dying (I had three die.)
I also never stuck with the diary because my mom snuck in and read them all of the time. There's something about knowing that the diary is no longer for me to keep my secrets in, but actually for me to tell my mom secrets that made me think what's the point?
I do like my blog as a record-keeper or to document my life right now. I think I will be interested to look at pictures of Adriana's graduation announcements in a year, when I've stopped thinking they are the best and start to think they are boring.
So, in my head this blog is different because I can post pictures, but more likely its just me trying to be a diary person again.

I will be going to see this movie Tuesday May 1 at the Tivoli in Kansas City. I'm pretty excited to see it because the director will be there after to discuss! The movie follows the font Helvetica through the history of graphic design and interviews some pretty big designers. It's causing quite a stir in the design world and I'm hoping it talks about some issues going on today.

Letterpress!

Here are the graduation announcements from p's and q's press! What do you think? I love them and would be really excited to get one in the mail. The bottom picture is to show you the set up for letterpress. This setup uses big wood type, which I used for the orange accent band on the announcements. All of the other type is lead and is either 10 or 30 point. (that's all we have). Don't forget next time you need some invitations done to contact p's and q's press! I had so much fun making them that I think it should be my new life calling: to make invitations!

I was feeling restless today and tired of sitting around my apartment, so I decided to go on a hike in the Konza Prarie. I took this photo while I was there. I don't have much else to say except that the wind was deafening at times because the Konza is a valley and huge wind tunnel.

Graduation Announcements!

Here's a sneak peak of my completed graduation announcements. I made them using letterpress and am really excited about how they came out. I'll post more pictures in the next couple days. Let me know what you think of the first project from p's and q's press.
