Number 10 in training!

Well today marks the last long run I have before my race next Saturday! Eeek! I am officially signed up for the Kansas City Half Marathon.  I'm really excited and scared at the same time.  I've been training for it for a while and think I'm ready to cross the finish line!

If you're in the area come cheer me on!

Out with the old and in with the new!

Hello Readers!  You may notice a few exciting changes around the blog.  I now have included a link to my etsy shop on your right.  I'm very excited about this and ready to jumpstart my shop!  I've had the etsy shop for a year or so, but have not really devoted enough energy to it until now.  So...now that grad school is officially over, M. and I have moved and settled in, I now am officially in business.  Contact me for all your letterpress needs!  Here's to new endeavors!

New items in the shop:  Save the date cards + Invitation Set.

Les Supremes

Last night we made my first ever Julia Childs recipe. It was so delicious and not nearly as hard as you would think. During my brief high from seeing the movie Julie & Julia, I bought the cookbook Mastering the Art of French Cooking. So, last night M. and I made roast Chicken Breasts with Mushrooms & Onion cream sauce. Only Julia calls chicken breasts "les supremes" which makes them sound so fancy...

We messed up a bunch, but I think it basically came out tasting the same. We ate it while watching 17 Again with Zac Effron. I don't know how you can get better than that.

It's so good to hear from you (Seiji + Mary)!

My small update is we have moved in, Marty is already immersed in the books and I have been getting to know Lawrence and unpacking. The apartment is almost entirely unpacked and I've been able to focus on small projects to make it feel more like home. Just bought two Febreze air plug-ins to remove the wierd smell that we can't put our finger on. Smells like candy apple air freshner to hide a bad scent below. Put the coat of primer on the wooden picture frames I built. I have around 7 to paint, frame, and hang.

I did take the desk top and I'm really excited to get some legs for it. Its a large black top with wood trim. The thrift store thinks there may be slate in the middle, which will prevent it from warping. My only problem is I'm trying to figure out some legs. I love these red enamel ones from IKEA. But, they don't ship them. So, I'll have to figure out something else...maybe with built in storage?

Moving Day

Moving day is tomorrow! I have been busy preparing for the move including re-finishing a table I found at a flea market. It has antique sewing machine legs and I stripped + stained the wood table top. Was not easy or as simple as I thought it would be. Turned into a week long project.

I promise pictures after I have moved in. Heading to the thrift store to check out a large desk top...

Moving West

I admit I've been terrible with this blog since graduation. I put off writing because I was waiting to have something to share. But as M. says, life happens while you are waiting to achieve your goals. So through all this waiting, things seemed to have been happening. I'm newly fianced to M. and we are moving out west in a couple weeks to begin his legal education. Heading there this Sunday to find a home and I'm keeping my fingers crossed that we find something good, sign, and come home to pack!

My awesome job at the SVDP Thrift Store will be coming to an end and its time to find a job in Lawrence. My car is breaking down and badly in need of a valve job greater than the worth of the car. So I'm driving it until it dies and increasingly getting better at ignoring the check engine light.

Through all this, I'm getting soo soo excited to move in with M. My first time living with a boy! giggle giggle

I will be a bike riding Lawrence local soon!
